What a fantastic day we had at the wedding of Charlotte and Kristian earlier this summer.
The couple had an outdoor ceremony which took place at the beautiful location of Llandaff Rowing Club which sits right on the banks of the River Taff just above the Weir.
As luck would have it the weather was in our favour and the sun shone all day. The couple got engaged whilst in the USA, driving Route 66 in a Vintage Chevy. They love all things 50’s America and they themed their day around that.
My day started with the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready at a lovely riverside apartment in the centre of Cardiff. Charlottes dress was a vintage style white cocktail length, whilst her three bridesmaids were in bright red 50’s swing dresses with lovely tulle underskirts, they were wearing navy blue heeled retro Mary Janes to match the brides White Mary Janes.
The groom arrived at the Ceremony venue in a Stunning Red Vintage 1957 Chevy which then left to pick up the bride and her bridesmaids. Paul was there to capture photographs with the groom and his family before the bride arrived.
The ceremony was not a legal ceremony and was presided over by a celebrant. The Couple were having their legal ceremony a few days later on the 4th of July (American Independence Day)
We again were very lucky with the venue as it had a balcony for the group heart shot that the couple had requested. The heart shot can be a difficult one to achieve but all the guests were very helpful and were happy to be placed to shape the heart. Having the river to the rear of the picture is also very special and it makes this shot one of my favourites of the day.
Gary, the owner of the Chevy was absolutely fantastic and stayed for an hour or so after the ceremony which enabled us to get very creative with the photographs we took with the couple in and out of the car.
After the couples photographs were finished, Kristian and Charlotte walked up the riverside walk to their venue at Cardiff Metropolitan University. As there are two of us, Paul stayed with the couple whilst I drove the five minutes to the venue to capture some quick shots of their 50’s Styles reception room and cake etc. before walking down the path the meet up with the couple and Paul. I have to say that walk is absolutely stunning, the overhanging trees formed and lovely archway and there were various spots on route which were perfect for capturing more couples photo’s.
The evening celebrations started with the cutting of the cake which then naturally led into the couple’s first dance. They danced to a medley of 50’s hits and were quickly joined on the dance floor by all their friends and families.
Charlotte and Kristian, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special day and all our best wishes for your future together.
